 José Luis RODRÍGUEZ ZAPATERO       Zapatero


Prime Minister of Spain from 2004 to 2011 (two mandates). General Secretary of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) from 2000 to 2012.

José Luis Rodguez Zapatero is a member of the Spanish Council of State and will honour us with his presence by opening the international conference " Women, from object to becoming subjects: Political  Power, Legal Discourse and Professional Equality", on 16 January at 9:00 in MB1 Amphitheatre (Manufacture des Tabacs).

 

 

Rachel SCHNELLER         Schneller

USA Consul in Toulouse.

Rachel Schneller joined the U.S. diplomatic service in 2001 and has served abroad in Macedonia, Guinea, and Iraq. She received her M.A. in International Relations and Economics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in 2001. She speaks fluent French.

 

 

Linda Sheryl GREENE     Greene

Linda Sheryl Green is a Professor at Evjue Bascom Law School, University of Wisconsin. She is the former Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion-University of California at San Diego; former Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, University of Wisconsin Madison.

She obtained her Juris Doctor at the University of California Berkeley (California, USA) and her Bachelor of Arts at California State University at Long Beach (California, USA).

 

 

Karon MONAGHAN QC      Monaghan

Called 1989 Silk 2008.

Karon practises principally in the fields of equality and discrimination law, human rights and EU law at Matrix Chambers, Gray's Inn, London.

Her work spans the fields of employment law, civil actions, judicial review and inquests. She has appeared in numerous cases at appellate level, including in the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court and (on references under Art 267, TFEU) in the CJEU.  She was awarded Liberty’s Human Rights Lawyer of the Year Award in 2010.  

 

 

Rokhaya DIALLO 

Rokhaya Diallo is a French activist, writer and filmmaker, widely recognized for her work in favor of racial, gender and religious equality.
She uses modern and innovative approaches, such as humor, to break down discrimination barriers. For example, the INDIVISIBLES, an association she co-founded, initiated the "'Y A BON AWARDS" featuring "recognition" for the "outstanding" statements of prejudice and hatred made each year by French public figures.
Rokhaya Diallo co-directed and hosted the documentary TV series, “Equals but not too much," on LCP-AN, and was a commentator and co-host on several French TV programs and on RTL, France’s number 1 radio station.
As a journalist and activist, Rokhaya has become a leading voice in discussions about race and gender equality. Her documentaries: “The steps to Liberty” and “Network of Hate” along with her published books, such as, How to talk to kids about racism (Ed Baron Perché) address issues of social injustice in France and around the world. In 2012 she was honored with a prestigious award for the Struggle against Racism and Discrimination by the NGO COJEP (UN and Council of Europe affiliated). In 2013 Slate Magazine ranked her the 36th ‘Most Influential French Woman’ and in 2014, she appeared on the ‘Purpose Economy 100’ listing of innovative economic players in Europe. Most recently she was the recipient of the #LabComWomen award in the Generosity category.

 

 

 Pete STONE         

Pete Stone is both British and French. He is a consultant and an expert on diversity, non-discrimination, and cross cultural relations.

When asked to describe himself Pete Stone answers:  "I am British, but I have been living in France for almost 30 years. Therefore, I'm a cultural mix between the French and British cultures. I am working on diversity and discrimination within companies. My role is to help and support them when complying with diversity policies."

His publications include:

 Mary LAWLOR            Mary_Lawlor.jpg

Mary Lawlor, former director of the Irish Section of Amnesty International, is the founder and executive director of the Dublin-based human-rights organisation Front Line Defenders (2001). The objective of the organization is to protect those who work non-violently to uphold the human rights of others in various parts of the world. She became a recipient of the Order of Chevalier of the Legion of Honour as a reward for her work in 2014.
